Vinay Karanam Ram Navami, a sacred Hindu festival, holds immense importance in our culture and spirituality. It commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This auspicious day symbolizes the victory of good over evil and righteousness over injustice, inspiring devotees to uphold dharma (righteousness) in their lives.
In 2024, Ram Navami falls on Wednesday, April 17th, marking the ninth day (Navami Tithi) of the Chaitra month in the Hindu lunisolar calendar during the Shukla Paksha phase. However, this year’s celebration is particularly special because it is the first Ram Navami after the inauguration of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir on January 22, 2024.
Here’s why the 2024 Ram Navami in Ayodhya is significant:
- Birthplace of Lord Ram: Ayodhya, known as the birthplace of Lord Ram, has a deep spiritual connection. The inauguration of the magnificent Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has rekindled devotion and reverence among millions of devotees.
- Sunlight Blessing: Preparations are underway to ensure that sunlight directly falls on Lord Ram’s idol in the sanctum sanctorum during his ‘Surya Abhishek’ at around noon on April 17. This unique alignment adds to the sanctity of the occasion.
- Security Measures: The Uttar Pradesh government has made extensive arrangements for the festivities. Police personnel have been deployed, and security measures are in place to manage the influx of approximately 25 lakh devotees during the Ram Navami Mela.
- Adorned Idol: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has adorned the Ram Lalla idol with special hand-woven khadi cotton clothes and real silver and gold khadi hand block prints inspired by Vaishnav Chinha. Additionally, 1,11,111 kg of laddoos will be sent to the Ram temple in Ayodhya as prasad by the Devraha Hans Baba Trust.
- Extended Darshan Timings: The trust is considering increasing the darshan timings to up to 20 hours on Ram Navami to accommodate more visitors. Every devotee will receive ‘prasad’ during their visit.
- Live Telecast: Prasar Bharati will ensure a live telecast of the Ram Navami celebrations at the Ram Temple through LED screens in Ayodhya Nagar Nigam boundaries and neighboring markets.
In summary, the 2024 Ram Navami at Ayodhya is not only a celebration of Lord Ram’s birth but also a testament to faith, devotion, and the enduring spirit of righteousness. It marks a historic moment in Ayodhya’s spiritual journey, where devotees come together to seek blessings and celebrate the divine legacy of Lord Shri Ram.
