The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh New Zealand (HSS NZ) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, India, which reportedly targeted Hindu tourists based on their religious identity.
In a public statement released by the organisation’s president, HSS NZ described the incident as a “horrific and cowardly act” and expressed deep concern over the deliberate targeting of peaceful individuals solely on the grounds of faith. According to media reports, assailants asked victims to identify their religion before launching the attack.
“The deliberate targeting of peaceful Hindus is an attack not only on human lives but also on the deeply held values of religious freedom and peaceful coexistence that Bharat (India) has promoted from time immemorial,” the statement read.
HSS NZ extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and injured, reaffirming its solidarity with the victims of the attack. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident,” the organisation added.
The group called on the international community to take a united stance against terrorism in all its forms and to support global efforts to uphold peace, justice, and human dignity.
“All peace-loving people around the world must unequivocally condemn such acts of violence, as it has no place in a civilised society,” HSS NZ stated.
The message concluded with the traditional invocation, “Om Shanti,” expressing hope for peace and healing in the aftermath of the tragedy.
