The New Zealand Kannada Koota (NZKK) is all set to bring the colours, flavours, and vibrant energy of Karnataka to life with its much-awaited annual celebration, Yugadi Sambhrama 2025. The event will take place on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at the Diversity Centre, 25 Tui Road, Papatoetoe, Auckland, promising an evening of cultural performances, culinary delights, and community bonding.

Open to the entire Kiwi-Indian community and beyond, Yugadi Sambhrama is a cultural highlight on NZKK’s calendar and is known for bringing together Kannada-speaking families, youth, and friends of the community from across Auckland.

A Celebration of Youth and Heritage

The event kicks off with a lively Mix & Mingle session, and the opening of popular Karnataka-style chat stalls at 4:45 PM. Attendees will be treated to an array of mouth-watering snacks prepared in authentic Karnataka style — a gastronomic experience that’s not to be missed. Both EFTPOS and bank transfers will be accepted for food and raffle purchases.

The inaugural ceremony, featuring the New Zealand and Indian national anthems, will take place at 5:15 PM, followed by a series of cultural programmes starting at 5:45 PM. Performances will showcase the artistic talents of the local Kannada youth, reflecting the rich folk, classical, and modern cultural traditions of Karnataka.

Exciting Raffles and Community Engagement

The evening will also include raffle draws with exciting prizes, and attendees are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets on arrival to be in the draw. The winners will be announced at 8:45 PM, adding an element of thrill and celebration to the programme.

The event will conclude with a hearty community dinner at 9:00 PM, offering a chance for everyone to wind down, connect, and celebrate shared heritage in true Kannada hospitality.
