Auckland, 7 May 2025 – The spirit of Telangana will be alive and vibrant in Auckland this June as the local Telugu-speaking community comes together to celebrate Telangana Formation Day with a special Telangana Awards Function on Monday, 2 June 2025, at the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, 487–489 Dominion Road, Mt Eden.
The event will begin at 5:00 PM onwards, and promises to be an evening filled with pride, culture, recognition, and community spirit. Organised by leaders of the Telangana community in Aotearoa, the event is expected to draw a wide cross-section of Kiwi Telugus, dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and supporters of multiculturalism in New Zealand.
Celebrating Statehood and Achievement
Telangana Formation Day marks the historic moment in 2014 when Telangana officially became the 29th state of India. The Auckland celebrations aim to honour that milestone while recognising outstanding contributions from community members through an awards ceremony.
Community leaders Kalyan Rao Kasuganti and RamMohan Danthala, who are coordinating the event, have extended a warm invitation to all to attend the function and be part of the celebrations. “This is a proud day for every Telangana native, and we’re excited to celebrate it with our wider Indian and Kiwi community,” they said.
Cultural Pride and Community Unity
Alongside the awards function, attendees can expect traditional Telangana-themed decorations, devotional performances, and cultural items that reflect the region’s rich artistic and spiritual heritage. The event will also serve as an opportunity to showcase the achievements of Telangana-origin individuals in various fields, including arts, education, business, and community service.
Free Entry and Dinner for All
The organisers have announced free entry for all guests, and the evening will conclude with a delicious community dinner—a hallmark of Telangana hospitality.
