Agartala Dental College Receives Rs 202 Crore Boost, Expansion Planned

AGARTALA, Tripura—Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced Wednesday that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned Rs 202 crore for infrastructure development at the Agartala Government Dental College. The announcement came during the college’s second Foundation Day celebration.

CM Saha highlighted the college’s significance, stating that establishing a dental college had been a long-held dream, noting past government inaction on the issue. He credited his administration with establishing the 50-seat college within nine months, utilizing existing IGM Hospital facilities. The Rs 202 crore, secured under the PM-DeVINE scheme, will fund infrastructure improvements, with tenders already issued. CM Saha emphasized his personal oversight of the project and directed officials to ensure efficient coordination across departments.

The CM also outlined broader healthcare expansion plans, including free kidney transplants and future plans for liver and bone marrow transplants. He cited the success of Tripura natives in prominent medical roles across India and abroad as a source of pride and motivation for strengthening healthcare infrastructure. This includes upgrading district hospitals and the recent opening of a Cardiac Care Centre in Ambassa. Future plans also involve establishing homeopathy and Ayurvedic colleges, along with creating additional positions within the Agartala Government Dental College.
