New Delhi, India – Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has strongly criticized Pakistan, stating that terrorism has been a part of its policies for decades. His remarks come amid escalated tensions between India and Pakistan following recent military operations and cross-border exchanges.
India’s Counterterrorism Response
Khan emphasized that India’s actions are directed at eliminating terrorist sites, but Pakistan perceives these strikes as targeting them directly.
“It has been decades, terrorism is part of their country’s policies. We are eliminating terrorist sites, and they feel that we are taking action against them,” Khan told ANI.
Echoing similar sentiments, former Punjab DGP Shashi Kant urged India to take decisive action, stating: “Pakistan keeps doing such evil acts…it is time to end this. India needs to put an end to this.”
Pakistan’s Drone Incursions and India’s Defensive Actions
The Pakistani army conducted multiple airspace violations and drone intrusions on 7 and 8 May, targeting Indian military infrastructure.
During a press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi revealed that 300 to 400 drones were deployed across 36 locations, with many shot down by Indian armed forces using kinetic and non-kinetic methods.
Initial investigations suggest these drones were Turkish-made Asisguard Songar models.
“The possible purpose of such large-scale aerial intrusions was to test air defense systems and collect intelligence,” she added.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliatory Strike
India launched Operation Sindoor on 8 May, targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and PoJK, as a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
During a press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi displayed videos of destroyed terror camps, including those in Muridke, known for training David Headley and Ajmal Kasab (2008 Mumbai attacks perpetrators).
Other targets included:
- Sarjal camp, Sialkot
- Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala and Markaz Abbas, Kotli
- Mehmoona Joya camp, Sialkot
India’s Large-Scale Counter-Drone Operation
On 9 May, the Indian Army shot down over 50 Pakistani drones during operations along the LoC and International Border (IB).
Looking Ahead
As tensions continue to rise, global attention remains focused on regional stability and security dynamics between India and Pakistan. The situation underscores India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism, while diplomatic responses from international actors remain critical.
