Community Unites for Ovarian Cancer Awareness at Successful Better Future Trust Event

The Better Future Trust, established on November 30, 2022, by Shivani Arora and Kuldeep Arora, continues to make significant strides in community support and health awareness. On June 29, 2024, the Trust held a successful Ovarian Cancer Awareness Event at the Maungakiekie Golf Club, bringing together community leaders, medical experts, and dedicated supporters.

The event featured insightful speeches from prominent figures, including Dr. Parvin Dalal and Rebecca Gilbert, Health Promotion Manager at the Cancer Society. Their presentations focused on ovarian cancer awareness, early detection, and prevention, providing valuable information to attendees. A moving testimony from an ovarian cancer survivor highlighted the strength and resilience of those battling the disease.

Keynote speakers Carlos Cheung, MP for the National Party, Parmjeet Parmar, MP for the Act Party, and Jessica Phuang, Ethnic Responsiveness Manager, emphasized the importance of community support and awareness in fighting ovarian cancer. Their powerful messages resonated deeply with the audience.

Cultural performances added vibrancy to the evening. The Anuradha School of Dance delivered a captivating Classical dance, while Sri Natyalaya presented an engaging Classical Fusion performance. These cultural elements, combined with raffle draws, helped raise significant funds for Better Future Trust’s initiatives.

Shivani Arora, Chairperson of Better Future Trust, expressed heartfelt gratitude to sponsors and supporters, stating, “Your contributions have been instrumental in enabling the Trust to carry out its mission.” Special recognition was given to sponsors for their unwavering support.

Jyoti Parashar, Secretary of the Trust, highlighted the importance of such events, saying, “We hope to arrange more programs in the future to increase awareness about other diseases, which can help save many lives.”

Looking ahead, the Trust is planning the next Deep Mahotsav in September 2024, aiming for even greater community participation.
