
Auckland, New Zealand – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sam Mudaliar, a cherished member and former secretary of Multicultural New Zealand (MNZ), as well as a former president of the Waikato Multicultural Council. Mr. Mudaliar passed away in Auckland yesterday, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and compassion.
Ravinder Powar, President of the Waikato Multicultural Council, expressed profound sorrow over the loss. In his words, “It is with great sadness that I inform everyone that one of our lovely MNZ secretaries of the past, Sam Mudaliar has passed away in Auckland yesterday.”
Mr. Mudaliar’s tenure as the secretary for Multicultural New Zealand from 2003 to 2006 and his leadership role as the president of the Waikato Multicultural Council showcased his unwavering commitment to the community. He was deeply devoted to assisting families in distress and was a staunch advocate for the welfare of recent immigrants. His efforts have left an indelible mark on countless lives.
“Sam was a very committed member of the community, particularly in helping families that were troubled. He was a great team player who was very devoted to the betterment of the lives of more recent immigrants,” said Powar, highlighting Mudaliar’s selfless service and team spirit.
The impact of his work continues to resonate within the MNZ network, where many still fondly remember him. “There are still those in the MNZ network that remember him well,” noted Powar.
In a poignant tribute, Powar added, “New Zealand says thank you to you Sam Mudaliar for your exemplary and selfless service. The communities are indebted to your kindness.”
