Bangalore, India – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) continues to make significant strides in space exploration, with a series of successful lunar and Martian missions showcasing India’s growing capabilities in space technology.
One of the most remarkable achievements is the Chandrayaan-2 mission, India’s second lunar exploration mission. Launched in July 2019, Chandrayaan-2 aimed to explore the Moon’s south pole region, which had not been previously visited. Although the Vikram lander faced challenges during its descent, the orbiter continues to relay valuable data, enhancing our understanding of the Moon’s surface and its potential for future exploration.
Following the success of Chandrayaan-2, ISRO has set its sights on Chandrayaan-3, an upcoming mission focused on landing and rover operations on the lunar surface. This mission aims to build on the lessons learned from Chandrayaan-2 and further solidify India’s position in lunar exploration.
In addition to lunar missions, India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) has been a major milestone. Launched in November 2013, Mangalyaan successfully entered Mars’ orbit in September 2014, making India the first country to achieve this feat on its maiden attempt. The mission has provided valuable data on Martian surface features, atmosphere, and weather patterns, contributing to global Mars research.
ISRO’s achievements are not limited to lunar and Martian missions. The organization is also working on the Gaganyaan mission, which aims to send Indian astronauts to space by 2025. This ambitious human spaceflight program will mark India’s entry into the elite group of nations capable of manned space missions.
