The state capital, Bhubaneswar, also experienced extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius. While lower than Jharsuguda, this temperature still indicates a significant heatwave affecting the state.
IMD Warnings and Predictions
The IMD has issued a heatwave warning for 10 districts in Odisha, including Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Kalahandi, and Nuapada. Temperatures in these districts are expected to exceed 42 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts a further rise in temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, with a slight change over the subsequent two days before a decline of 2-4 degrees Celsius.

To further protect residents from the intense heat, the district administration of Mayurbhanj has announced that local daily and weekly markets will remain open until 11 am and will be closed from 11 am to 4 pm. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.
