The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, occurred in the wake of successful elections, economic growth, and development in the region.
The MEA held a special briefing on Wednesday evening, informing the media that the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) had been briefed on the attack, including its cross-border linkages.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the CCS expressed appreciation for the international condemnation of the attack, highlighting the global commitment to zero tolerance for terrorism.
Misri noted that the attack came amidst positive developments in Jammu and Kashmir, including successful elections and progress towards economic growth and development. This suggests a possible motivation for the attack, linking it to the region’s positive trajectory.
The Pahalgam attack resulted in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen, with several others injured. The attack has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, with security forces launching search operations to track down the perpetrators.
