Renowned singer Kailash Kher, known for his powerful voice and meaningful songs, expressed his concern about the lack of depth in contemporary music at the grand launch of the Bhagva app in New Delhi.
Kher, a Padma Shri awardee, performed live with his band, Kailasa, at the event. During an interview, he shared his views on why many of today’s songs feel meaningless, stating, “These days, people want everything fast – happiness, peace, fun – and they want it quickly. I don’t understand this formula… Peace never comes in a hurry.”
He further criticized the current trend of writing songs without substance, stating, “Some intellectuals have changed. They are living in their own world… writing anything quickly, without any meaning or structure.”
Kher contrasted this with the music of the past, saying, “Earlier, there was art and simplicity. When it was presented like a craft, it touched people’s hearts.” He believes that the rush for instant gratification has led to a decline in the quality and meaningfulness of music.
The Bhagva app, launched at the event, aims to help users with their daily spiritual needs, offering features like booking pujas, performing jaaps, getting horoscope updates, and checking the panchang for auspicious timings.
