Families in the Bay of Plenty are being encouraged to take part in a unique cultural event that brings together fun, learning, and heritage. The Hindu Heritage Camp, organised by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), will be held at the Welcome Bay Community Centre in Tauranga on Sunday, 25 May 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Designed for all age groups, the camp is more than just a cultural gathering — it is an opportunity for participants to reconnect with their roots, understand the richness of Hindu dharma, and embrace values that promote mindfulness and community spirit.
“Today’s fast-paced life often distances our younger generation from their cultural identity. This camp bridges that gap with engaging activities like yoga, traditional games, and storytelling from scriptures,” says Pranav ji, one of the organisers.
Participants will explore themes such as sanskars (values), spiritual teachings, and the significance of ancient texts through interactive sessions. The emphasis is on learning by doing, with fun games and hands-on experiences tailored to both children and adults.
“It’s a rare chance to learn in a joyful, inclusive setting,” says Bhaumik ji, another organiser. “Whether you’re a parent wanting to expose your kids to Hindu values, or simply someone interested in culture and wellbeing, this event offers something valuable.”
Registration is free, but spaces are limited — those interested are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
