Vinay Karanam In a groundbreaking move that intertwines cultural heritage with community advancement, the Hindu Organisations, Temples and Associations (HOTA) Forum NZ has unveiled its ambitious project – the integration of a towering 40ft statue of Shri Hanuman ji with the establishment of a Youth Centre in the outskirts of Auckland.
This visionary endeavor seeks to carve out a unique space that not only pays homage to Shri Hanuman ji but also addresses the pressing need for a dedicated hub tailored to the youth. The official launch of this initiative, set for 2.00 pm on Thursday, 25 April 2024, coinciding with the Hanuman Jayanti celebration, will take place at Bharatiya Mandir, Auckland, marking the commencement of this monumental project.
The brainchild of the initiative, Vinod Kumar, National Coordinator of HOTA Forum NZ, emphasized its key objectives, which include nurturing personal development, fostering leadership skills, and fostering a strong sense of community among Hindu youth.
Drawing inspiration from India’s rich heritage, the proposed Youth Centre envisions a dynamic space that amalgamates the spiritual essence of Shri Hanuman ji with comprehensive facilities aimed at holistic youth development.
“Services offered within the Youth Centre encompass a diverse range, including career counselling, leadership development programs, arts and cultural activities, sports and recreation facilities, and community outreach initiatives,” remarked Mr. Kumar.
The centerpiece of the project, a majestic 40ft statue of Shri Hanuman ji atop the building, will not only serve as a focal point but also symbolize India’s invaluable contributions to the world.
Dr. Guna Magesan, President of the Hindu Council of New Zealand and International Coordinator of HOTA Forum, emphasized the significance of this initiative in fostering cultural pride and understanding. “We firmly believe that this centre will not only serve as a beacon of cultural pride but also emerge as a tourist destination,” remarked Dr. Magesan.
The project timeline spans three to five years, with funding efforts relying on a strategic blend of government grants, private donations, and partnerships with local entities committed to youth development and cultural preservation.
Individuals with expertise in various fields are encouraged to join the diverse team dedicated to the success of this initiative. With over 60 volunteers expressing interest, predominantly from Auckland, the project aims to expand its reach to other major cities across New Zealand.
The integration of the Shri Hanuman Youth Centre project signifies a pivotal step towards nurturing the youth and enriching community welfare while celebrating India’s profound contributions to the world.
The Youth Community Centre aims to significantly contribute to the social fabric of the Hindu community, creating responsible and empowered citizens. This project is inviting individuals with expertise in project management, architecture, cultural studies, event planning, and community engagement to form a diverse team dedicated to the success of this 4 to 5-year initiative.
