Hyderabad, India – Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao visited Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, on 6 May to oversee preparations for welcoming international delegates arriving for the 72nd Miss World pageant, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on 31 May.
Ensuring a Grand Welcome
Minister Rao emphasized that the arrival experience should reflect Telangana’s rich traditions and warm hospitality, stating: “The airport must serve as a vibrant gateway to Telangana’s identity, showcasing our traditions and cultural pride.”
Accompanied by officials from GMR Passenger Experience, the Department of Tourism, Customs, Immigration, and CISF, he conducted a detailed inspection of the arrangements.
Cultural Elements in Airport Decor
To ensure a festive and immersive atmosphere, Minister Rao recommended decorating the arrival area with:
- Fresh flowers
- Traditional mango and banana leaf toranas
He also directed authorities to streamline immigration and customs procedures, ensuring a seamless experience for the arriving Miss World contestants and delegates.
Enhanced Reception Teams and Cultural Representation
The Minister instructed officials to increase reception teams, ensuring that every aspect of the welcome experience highlights Telangana’s artistic and cultural heritage.
Interactions with Miss India and Miss Mexico
During his airport inspection, Minister Rao met Miss India Nandini Gupta and Miss Mexico Marle Lel Cervantes, encouraging them to explore Telangana’s historical and cultural landmarks while extending his best wishes for their participation in the Miss World event.
