New Delhi, Bharat: Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday condemned the scuffle that erupted in Parliament, emphasizing that while ideological differences are inherent to democracy, physical violence is unacceptable.
Addressing the media, Shekhawat stated, “There can be ideological differences in democracy, but injuring someone physically is strongly condemnable.” He called on the Congress Party and its leader Rahul Gandhi to apologize for the incident, asserting that the Congress has historically considered itself above the law and the Constitution. “They always considered themselves above the law and constitution and the country as their fiefdom…Congress and Rahul Gandhi should apologize for this,” he said.
Shekhawat highlighted that the entire incident was likely captured on CCTV and that the truth would be revealed once the footage is made public. “Everything that happened must have been recorded in the CCTV, and the truth will be revealed once the videos come out,” he stated.
Amid the scuffle, BJP MP Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disregarding the law due to his perceived arrogance. Thakur, along with fellow MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed a complaint against Gandhi at the Parliament Street Police Station. The complaint, under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351 of the IPC, accused Gandhi of injuring BJP MPs by pushing them.
Thakur claimed that the BJP MPs were peacefully protesting when Gandhi and other opposition leaders stormed the area, leading to physical aggression. He described Gandhi’s actions as “deliberate and malicious,” resulting in injuries to BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi.
On Thursday morning, Parliament witnessed parallel protests from both the Treasury and Opposition benches. The ruling BJP MPs protested in the Parliament premises against the Congress party for “insulting” Babasaheb Ambedkar, while INDIA Bloc MPs, led by Rahul Gandhi, demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Babasaheb Ambedkar.
