India’s Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has met with Keiichi Ono, the Japanese Ambassador to India, in Delhi. The meeting focused on strengthening ties between the two countries, likely touching on infrastructure projects and economic cooperation.
Gadkari shared a video of the meeting on X, writing, “Keiichi Ono, Ambassador of Japan to India, called on in Delhi today.”
Road Safety a Priority:
Earlier in the day, Gadkari chaired a meeting with fellow Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss integrating road safety into the school education system.
“In 2023 alone, over 11,000 lives were lost near school and institutional areas, including more than 10,000 children under the age of 18. This concerning statistic demands urgent action,” Gadkari wrote on X.
He added, “With the active support of the Ministry of Education, we are set to expand the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan to schools across India, aiming to educate our future generations about road safety–a concern of national importance.”
Building Infrastructure for a Strong India:
Gadkari has been a strong advocate for building world-class infrastructure in India, believing it to be essential for the country’s future growth and prosperity.
“If we want to develop our country, if we want to make our country a Vishwaguru, if we want to make our country the third largest economy in the world, if we want to make our country a five billion dollar economy which our Prime Minister wants to fulfill, the first requirement is to build international standard infrastructure in the country,” Gadkari said while attending an event in Mumbai.
He also stressed the importance of reducing imports, increasing exports, and lowering logistics costs to achieve these goals.
Gadkari’s focus on infrastructure development and road safety reflects his commitment to creating a safer and more prosperous India. His meeting with the Japanese Ambassador is a testament to the importance of international cooperation in achieving these goals.
What are your thoughts on Gadkari’s efforts to improve road safety and infrastructure in India? Do you think these initiatives will have a positive impact on the country’s development?
