India’s former Asian Games and Youth Olympic champion, Saurabh Chaudhary, has added another medal to his collection, snagging bronze in the 10m air pistol men’s event at the second ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun stage in Lima, Peru.
The win came on the first day of competition, with Chaudhary putting in a strong performance despite facing stiff competition from the world’s top shooters.
China’s Hu Kai took gold with a score of 246.4, just 0.1 points off the world record, while Brazil’s Olympic medalist Felipe Almeida Wu claimed silver. Chaudhary secured bronze with a score of 219.1, bowing out after the 22nd shot.
A Tough Final:
Chaudhary and fellow Indian shooter Varun Tomar both made it to the final eight, starting strong and placing fifth and eighth in the qualification round, respectively.
However, both Indians struggled to hit the 10-ring consistently in the final. Hu Kai quickly took the lead, while Chaudhary and Tomar found themselves battling for a place on the podium.
While Chaudhary managed to move up to second after the 16th shot, he unfortunately missed the mark on his 21st and 22nd shots, opening the door for Wu to take silver.
A Promising Performance:
Despite missing out on a higher podium finish, Chaudhary’s performance in Lima is a testament to his talent and dedication. He remains one of India’s top shooters, consistently performing at the highest level. This bronze medal is another feather in his cap, and a sign that he will continue to be a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.
This latest achievement adds to Chaudhary’s impressive list of accolades, including gold medals at the Asian Games and Youth Olympics. He continues to be a shining example of Indian talent and a source of pride for the country.
What are your thoughts on this exciting performance? Are you looking forward to seeing what Chaudhary achieves next?
