The Char Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage to four sacred Hindu sites nestled high in the Himalayas, is set to begin on April 30, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Akshaya Tritiya. Over 17 lakhs (1.7 million) devotees have already registered to embark on the journey, indicating a strong demand for the pilgrimage.
The Uttarakhand government has been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and safe yatra for pilgrims. The state’s tourism development council for Char Dham Yatra is operating around the clock to provide information and assistance to devotees.
A Lifeline for Uttarakhand:
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emphasized the importance of the Char Dham Yatra for the state’s economy. “The preparations for the Char Dham Yatra are underway. We are committed to ensuring the safety of the pilgrims. Char Dham Yatra is a lifeline for our state’s economy,” he said.
The Four Sacred Sites:
The Char Dham Yatra includes visits to four holy sites:
- Yamunotri: The source of the Yamuna River, revered as a goddess.
- Gangotri: The source of the Ganges River, another revered goddess.
- Kedarnath: A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
- Badrinath: A temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
A Journey of Faith:
Devotees believe that completing the Char Dham Yatra in a clockwise direction brings spiritual blessings. The journey can be done by road, by helicopter, or even on foot. Some pilgrims also opt for a “Do Dham Yatra,” visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath.
With over 17 lakhs registered, the Char Dham Yatra 2025 is poised to be a major event for Uttarakhand, boosting tourism and the local economy.
