Washington, US – Actress Dakota Johnson, known for her roles in the Fifty Shades trilogy, revealed how she navigated the challenges of breaking into Hollywood after her father, actor Don Johnson, cut her off financially for not attending college.
Determination Amid Financial Struggles
In an interview with E! News, Johnson shared: “I didn’t get in, and my dad cut me off because I didn’t go to college. So, I started auditioning. I think I was 19 when I did The Social Network, and then little jobs after that.”
Despite financial difficulties, she persisted and went on to secure roles in major films, including The Social Network and Fifty Shades trilogy.
Father’s Perspective on the Decision
Don Johnson previously discussed his stance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, stating: “We have a rule in the family that if you stay in school, you get to stay on the payroll.”
When Dakota opted out of college, he cut off financial support. However, just three weeks later, she landed her breakthrough role in The Social Network, proving her determination in building her career independently.
