The Border Security Force (BSF) in Punjab has dealt a significant blow to cross-border narco-smuggling, seizing three Pakistani drones and 1.57 kilograms of heroin in a series of intelligence-led operations. One Indian smuggler was also apprehended.

The successful operations spanned Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur districts, showcasing the BSF’s proactive approach to tackling this persistent threat. A joint operation with Punjab Police in Ferozepur’s Habibwala village resulted in the seizure of 1.029kg of heroin and the arrest of a local smuggler linked to a Pakistan-based handler.
Drone Seizures and Countermeasures
Three DJI Mavic-3 Classic drones were recovered from fields near Rajatal (Amritsar), Gatti Rajoke (Ferozepur), and Daoke (Amritsar). An additional 545 grams of heroin were found near Dal village in Tarn Taran. The BSF believes the drones crashed due to the effective deployment of electronic countermeasures along the border.
Synergy and Success
The BSF highlighted the crucial synergy between intelligence gathering, technological defenses, and swift action by BSF and Punjab Police personnel. This coordinated effort successfully thwarted attempts by Pakistan-backed narco-networks to smuggle contraband into India.
Recent Similar Operations
This latest success builds on previous operations. On April 14th, the BSF recovered a drone carrying a pistol and ammunition in Amritsar. On April 12th, an intelligence-led ambush resulted in the disruption of suspected drug smuggling activities in Amritsar.
