Moscow, Russia: Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the rapid development and growing global interest in BRICS during the “Results of the Year” event on December 19, as reported by TV BRICS. He underscored that BRICS countries are creating new tools for economic growth, aiming to transform the world economy for the long-term benefit of humanity and solidify their position as global leaders.
Responding to a journalist from Tatarstan, Putin highlighted that BRICS operates on principles of reciprocity and mutual respect, with decisions made by consensus. “Many states show interest in BRICS because this work is built on reciprocity and respect for each other’s interests. All issues are adopted by consensus. There are no small or big states; there is only one interest – development,” Putin stated.
The Russian President also noted the significant turnout of world leaders at the recent BRICS summit in Kazan, praising the city’s rapid development and its recognition as one of Europe’s best cities.
Addressing a question from Xinhua News Agency about Russia-China relations, Putin highlighted the unprecedented high level of mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries over the past decade. He mentioned that trade turnover between Russia and China ranges from USD 220 to USD 240 billion, with over 600 joint investment projects underway.
Putin also emphasized the importance of humanitarian exchanges, such as cultural and youth exchange programs, as a foundation for developing economic ties and political interaction. He acknowledged the strong, friendly relations between Russia and Latin American countries like Cuba and Venezuela.
The “Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin” program, a direct line combined with a press conference, featured Putin answering questions from citizens and media representatives on various topics, including domestic policy, social issues, international relations, and foreign economic activity. The event received nearly 2.5 million appeals, with 76 questions addressed.
