Mumbai, India – Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya recorded a joint IPL record for bowling the most deliveries in a single over during MI’s high-stakes clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium on 6 May 2025.
Pandya’s Struggles with the Ball
While defending a 156-run target, Pandya brought himself into the attack in the eighth over, but struggled with his line and length, delivering:
- Two no-balls
- Three wides
- 11 deliveries overall (instead of six)
- Conceding 18 runs
This unwanted feat places him alongside Mohammed Siraj, Tushar Deshpande, Shardul Thakur, and Sandeep Sharma, who have previously bowled 11-ball overs in IPL history.
Batting Woes Compound MI’s Struggles
Pandya’s troubles extended beyond bowling, as he failed to make an impact with the bat.
- With MI at 105/4 in the 12th over, he attempted a slog sweep against Sai Kishore, but misjudged his shot.
- His top-edged attempt was caught by GT captain Shubman Gill at slip, dismissing him for 1(3).
MI’s Late-Order Fightback
Despite Pandya’s off day, Corbin Bosch injected some firepower into MI’s innings, scoring 27 off 22 deliveries, helping Mumbai reach 155/8—preventing an early collapse.
Looking Ahead
With Mumbai Indians navigating an inconsistent campaign, Pandya will be eager to bounce back and reclaim his match-winning form in upcoming fixtures.
