The Indian Embassy in Guyana described the statue as a “symbol of faith, friendship, and firm resolve.” The statue was imported from India by the Sooklal family, installed in memory of their parents, and unveiled after a three-day yajna featuring bhajans and cultural performances.
Strengthening India-Guyana Ties
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian Embassy expressed hope that the statue would foster closer people-to-people ties between India and Guyana.

India and Guyana’s diplomatic ties date back to 1965, when India first established a Commission in Georgetown, later upgraded to a High Commission post-independence in 1968.
